The Choir of Milan
"Non nobis Domine sed nomini tuo da gloriam" is the correct title for this concert, which presents an extraordinary live staging of the Choir of Milan in a selection of Western sacred music from XVth Century to contemporary composers.
Directed by Lodovico Cazzaniga, the founder, organist and Master of Chapel at the Cathedral of Monza (Italy), the Choir is composed of nearly forty people. They are non professionals who are motivated by their love of music and Christ, to offer us the opportunity of sharing and appreciating the sacred music tradition from the harmonic perfection of the “Mottetto” of the XVI Century, to the Baroque Oratories, to the complex dissonance of modern and contemporary composers.
Organist: Master Alessandro La Ciacera
Recorded at the San Nicholas Church at Dergano, in Milan, for Lent 2002
A few months after the recording, Lodovico Cazzaniga died in mysterious circumstances, and the interview he recorded for Pater TV on the development and the original approach of the Choir can be considered as his spiritual will.
